Trigger Strategies

Prepared responses for risks

Read-only — write your strategies in a personal notebook. Nothing is stored on our servers.

A trigger strategy is a plan you write before a risky moment happens. For each risk you identify, describe it specifically and decide in advance how you will respond and leave if needed. Rank your strategies in your notebook so the most important ones come first.

1. Identify the risk

Name each trigger by its type:

Situation:a specific scenario that poses a risk
Environment:a place or setting that poses a risk
Event:an occasion that poses a risk
Person:someone who poses a risk
Emotion:a feeling that poses a risk

2. For each risk, record

Your response plan

The exact words and actions you will use when this trigger arises.

Your exit plan

How you will leave the situation if it becomes uncomfortable.

A support person

Who can help in this scenario, and how you will reach them.
